Private Practice

My name is Karen Reimers and I’m a board certified psychiatrist. In my private practice, I work with with adult patients and coach individuals and groups.

Psychiatric Consultation

As a psychiatrist, I bring experience from thousands of patient encounters. My patients are my greatest teachers. Using a variety of approaches including psychotherapy, I can help people overcome anxiety, depression, addictions, and other mental health problems. It inspires me to see patients recover and regain their quality of life.

Here are a few of the things I believe in:

  • Finding joy and happiness in everyday life, even in times of crisis

  • Synthesizing a variety of perspectives on health and wellness into my medical view of the mind and brain

  • Integrating psychotherapy with psychiatric medication management and other complementary approaches when appropriate

  • Recognizing the powerful connection between nutrition and mental well-being

  • The resilience of the human spirit and the power of self help

I received my B.A. in political science at McGill University in Canada before studying medicine at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich in Germany. I completed my psychiatry residency training at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where I trained in psychotherapy techniques as well as medication management.

In 2013, I began working at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, WI. At Mayo, I collaborated with colleagues across disciplines in outpatient, inpatient and hospital consultation-liaison settings. I later served as Treatment Director for a rural acute psychiatric hospital in Wisconsin, and also treated patients at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in Minnesota and Florida.

Coaching

Aside from my clinical psychiatric practice, I work directly with individuals and groups as a quality of life coach. Rather than treating illness, my coaching is about helping people thrive with real-world strategies to improve mental clarity, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.

Key coaching areas include food and brain health—translating nutritional research into easy, sustainable habits; lifestyle and mental resilience strategies tailored to real life; and engaging group sessions that promote community, learning, and shared experiences.

Thanks for joining me here. I look forward to helping you.
